About Darling Downs Region Scouts

We are part of Scouts Australia (The Scout Association of Australia), one of the largest youth organisations in Australia and the world, helping Scouting to grow and prosper in the Darling Downs Region of Queensland. Queensland Branch of Scouts Australia, which is an incorporated body by the Scout Association of Australia - Queensland Branch Act 1975 (An act of the Queensland Parliament) is divided up into Areas and Regions for management purposes.

The Darling Downs Region is located some 150Km west of Brisbane, on the Great Dividing Range, elevation over 600m, and covers an area from Toowoomba east to Withcott, west to Cecil Plains and Inglewood, South to the New South Wales/Queensland Border (including towns of Warwick, Stanthorpe and Killarney) and North to Crows Nest and Oakey.

There are some 700 Youth Members and 180 Leaders on the Downs.

Inside an Region, their are Districts designed to support Scout Groups and promote Scouting in a defined community. We have 3 Districts in the Region -

We have 17 Region Staff helping out on all operations of the Region, including Commissioners assisting the Regional Commissioner (Assistant Regional Commissioners are their title, commonly called ARCs) for each section of Scouting, Administration, Public Relations, Activities and General Duties (assisting the Districts and Groups). We have a number of Regional and Activity Leaders who roles ranging from Abseiling, Water Activities and Cultural Activities. We have a vacncy for a Regional Chaplain for the promotion of Spiritual Development in the Region. The Region has an Regional Council, made up of people in the community promoting Scouting.
